Consumption differences in practice

Experience with large customers

Large customers report that, in practice. there is hardly any difference in the consumption of fuel between the leading concrete pump manufacturers. This is confirmed in the result of a special comparison test carried out by the largest global operator (Brundage Bone Concrete Pumping in USA), which operates several hundred concrete pumps from the leading manufacturer (Putzmeister and competitors). (see Website Brundage Bone Concrete Pumping).

A customer who operates several concrete pumps in Germany uses, as a rule of thumb, approx. 1 litre of diesel per cubic metre of concrete for journeys and pumping operations (We will gladly provide names on request).

Practice-oriented and economic pumping with Ergonic Output Control

Thanks to the Putzmeister EOC function (Ergonic Output Control, please see Internet links below for detailed function description), an economical engine speed is preselected, which gives a practice-oriented combination of fuel-efficient operation and performance for pumping and efficient boom operation (also with EBC – Ergonic Boom Control). Today, the Ergonic Output Control function is part of all diesel-run Putzmeister truck-mounted concrete pumps, stationary pumps and Pumi, regardless of the engine model. It assists the machine operator in more efficient operation. Thanks to pumping operations, which can run in many cases at a lower speed of rotation (but not at maximum speed of rotation), less fuel is used, thus lowering diesel costs. What is remarkable is that there is already a high torque in the case of the Ergonic Output Control speed of rotation so that relatively high concrete pressures for given outputs are possible.

Further information on EOC - Ergonic Output Control can be found:

• in concrete pump brochure BP_3478 or
• in concrete pump brochure BP_3763

If a lower (or higher) engine speed is deemed satisfactory by the machine operator in the Ergonic Output Control operation (or on the basis of the desired pump situation), this can be set at any time by actuating the gas minus or gas plus switch at the remote control, in order to save additional fuel or to ensure better performance and output. The machine operator is always informed about the relevant operating details of his machine via the display on the radio remote control.
